Today’s Gospel talks about the story of Thomas, from which, there is a phrase that touched me, he said: “My Lord! My God!”. We can see the master and servant relationship between them when Thomas said “My Lord!”; when he expressed “My God”, it showed his recognition of Jesus as the Lord. “My” referred to Thomas. According to the background at that time, people were not allowed to call God’s name directly, but Thomas admitted that the Lord is our God.
The formation of our religious belief is not only given or taught, we have to accept it ourselves. When we were preparing for the Curia Formation, one of the questions we dwelt on was: Do we have Charism? Did we experience God’s grace? It’s God’s grace that the Legion of Mary exists, it’s an organization that bears God’s Charism. The object of the Legion of Mary is to invite people to join. We need to let other people learn about the Legion of Mary, and the first thing we have to do is to perform our own spiritual practice including prayers, reading the bible and receiving the sacraments. We must listen to God’s Words, Mary’s advice and to pray fervently. We can see that Thomas’ conversion was gradual, and when he last said “My Lord! My God!”, it was deep from his heart, we should imitate him. We should also note that: when we sanctify ourselves, we have to sanctify others also in order to glorify God!
